2018 Toyota Century to use a 5.0L V8 hybrid system
For Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), elegance and pomp comes in only one form, which is why after 50 years, this model is only at its third-generation.
At the occasion of the 45th Tokyo Motor Show 2017, TMC will unveil the 2018 Toyota Century that comes loaded with the latest technology while continuing to carry the tradition of master craftsmanship and high-quality ‘monozukuri’.
With increased length, wheelbase and tread, the rear passenger section gets roomier with an even easier ingress with reduced distance between the scuff plate and the floor and increased door opening height.
A unique pattern adorns the upholstery from front to back made of 100-percent wool but customers have the option to use leather as well.
The second row comes with step-less, adjustable power leg rest, adjustable rear massage seats and a multi-operational LCD panel on the center armrest to control seats, ventilation and the audio system.
Interior appointments include writing table, reading light, rear seat entertainment system with a large-sized display, and a 20-speaker premium audio system.
TMC downsized from the predecessor’s V12 to a 5.0L V8 and paired it to the automaker’s Hybrid System II with a two-stage motor speed reduction to get a great mix of power, performance and efficiency.
To achieve its legendary stately ride, it uses specially-tuned suspension on a very rigid body, newly developed tires that reduce road vibration, and an optimized engine mount with active noise control that decreases noise and vibration when the engine starts.
This JDM-only luxury limousine comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P collision avoidance support, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
