Toyota Motor Philippines is starting the year by officially revealing the updated Hilux. For the 2018 model year, it gets a refreshed look inside and out, as well the addition of a new equipment package dubbed the Conquest.
The front of the Hilux has been significantly restyled, presenting a bolder, more aggressive design. The wide, two-bar grill design makes way for a hexagonal shaped panel. Its bumper has also been given a tweak with more defined corners and a new pair of slim, upright fog light housings. Opt for Conquest Hilux Conquest and it comes with projector LED headlights with LED daytime running lights. In addition, the side mirrors, door handles and sports bar are painted black. Lastly, the Hilux Conquest gets a new rear and side steps.
Changes to the cabin are subtle compared to its exterior. The center console gets a minor tweak, along with the slightly updated multi-information display. For its design, it is largely unchanged but the 2018 edition brings in keyless start to the Hilux. A touchscreen infotainment system is fitted as standard and supports AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, USB and Aux-input as such.
Carried over from the pre-facelift models are the engines. It starts with the 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV turbodiesel engine which provides power for the two-wheel drive models. It produces 150 PS and 400 Nm of torque when mated with an automatic and 343 Nm when paired to the six-speed manual. Standard in the four-wheel drive Hilux is the 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV which produces 177 PS and 450 Nm of torque with the six-speed automatic. Opt for the manual and torque is down to 420 Nm.
