The 40th edition of the Bangkok International Motor Show is once again ready to open its doors to car enthusiasts from around the world. Organizer Grand Prix International PCL has chosen the theme “Enjoyment of Automobiles” for this year’s event to be held at the IMPACT Challenger in Muang Thong Thani.

“The Bangkok International Motor Show has been internationally recognized as the Greatest Motor Show of ASEAN, proven by the annual participation of various global leading automotive brands,” declares Dr. Prachin Eamlumnow, CEO of Grand Prix PCL and the Chairman of the 40th Bangkok International Motor Show.

Thirty-three international auto brands have confirmed participation this year. Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Mazda, Subaru, and Suzuki represent the Japanese automakers. Hyundai and Kia represent Korean manufacturers, while Europe and US brands present will be Audi, Aston Martin, BMW, Bentley, Chevrolet, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Maserati, McLaren, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Volvo. EV segment newcomers FOMM and MIND will present their future mobility solutions as well.

This year, the Bangkok International Motor Show will be traveling through time for its 40th anniversary. The auspicious occasion will be celebrated with special setups that will bring everyone back 4 decades ago to the time when Bangkok International Motor Show was held for the first time at Lumpini Park in 1979.

The exhibition will feature the history of BIMS along with the key highlights of past shows and its contribution to the Thai automotive industry with a retro vibe that will give the nostalgic vibe of the good old days.

Considered as the first major auto event of Thailand, the Bangkok International Motor Show has consistently set the standard of for the country and the region with more than 4 decades of experience. Being the first event of the year, it is a major driver of Thailand’s automotive industry where major players get to show their latest offerings.

The 39thedition of the BIMS attracted 1,620,000 visitors over its 12-day duration. Despite the new shift of consumers towards the digital sphere globally, the show continues to attract discerning visitors who want to see, test, touch and feel the actual vehicle before buying a car of their choice. As such, organizers believe that such changing trends will not affect the number of visitors.

Visitors will once again get a first-hand experience of the latest models as well as concept cars, embrace cutting-edge technology and innovation of today and tomorrow. Over 10 new models launches are expected at this year's event, especially those of alternative energy vehicles like EV, Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid, which conform to the government policy of developing Thailand as the leader of Electric Vehicle in the near future.

Confirmed debuts at this year's event include: 2019 BMW Z4 M40i, 2019 Honda Accord, 2019 McLaren 720S Spyder, 2019 Mercedes-Benz G63, 2019 Mercedes-Benz S500e PHEV, 2019 Suzuki Jimny Sierra, and the 2019 Toyota Supra. Concepts and prototypes: Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, Mazda Kai Concept, and the Mitsubishi e-Evolution Concept.

Organizers have designed a new SUV test drive course to respond to the growing demand of the SUV market, reflecting the Organizer’s dedication to the visitors of the show.

Organizers have decided to maintain the admission fee at THB 100. However, a new collaboration with Kasikorn Bank for advanced purchases through their online platform. Special-rate tickets can be purchased in advance via the ‘K-PLUS’ application for ‘40-Day: 40-Baht’. The special rate tickets will be available from 13 February through 26 March 2019.

With the rising popularity of e-Sports (electronic sports), GPI will officially launch the GPe-Racing Live Event at the 40th Bangkok International Motor Show as a part of its business development plan. The event will feature online car racing of the well-known ‘GT Sport’ game, which reproduces the famous racing circuits around the world for motorsport enthusiasts to compete with each other on the virtual platform. The 40th BIMS will host the first round in search Thailand’s top e-Sports athletes who will represent the country in the international virtual races.
