2019 Chevrolet Camaro arrives in the Philippines with a 2.0L turbo
An all-new challenger has arrived to face the EcoBoost Ford Mustang.
That's right, the Blue Oval brand now has some stiff competition to face after The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), the official distributor of Chevrolet in the Philippines, has officially brought back the Camaro.
Already on its sixth-generation, the American muscle car from the bow-tie brand is looking sportier, more muscular and is available with a turbocharged four-cylinder heart.
Like the fifth-generation model, the all-new Camaro keeps the signature look as from before. It has a wide stance that is coupled to a bolder-looking front fascia, giving the Camaro a more purposeful and sporty appearance. It also gets a revised set of headlights, a new dual-port front grill, a more aggressive front bumper, as well as a more shapely hood.
Changes at the back of the 2019 Camaro are minimal at best, although Chevy did give it a new set of LED taillights, along with a different rear bumper and integrated trunk spoiler. Apart from those, the 2019 Camaro also comes with the RS appearance package as standard which gives it 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels, honeycomb-style front grill, RS emblems at the front and rear, and illuminated Camaro door sill plates.
Inside, the Camaro keeps its sporty interior as before, with both the driver and front passenger seated low to the ground. Black leather upholstery is fitted as standard on the seats, as well as on the steering wheel. Power-adjustable seats with memory function, along with heating and cooling function provide the driver and front passenger some comfort on either cold or hot days. An upgraded 8-inch MyLink infotainment system makes its home on the center dashboard and comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There's also a 9-speaker Bose sound system available.
Powering the 2019 Camaro is a not a V6 or a V8. Under the hood of the PH-spec Camaro is a 2.0-liter EcoTec turbo inline-four that pushes out 279 PS at 5600 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 3000 - 4500 rpm. Power is then sent to an eight-speed automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels. To help the Camaro stop quicker, the front axles are fitted with Brembo 4-piston brake calipers.
In terms of safety, the 2019 Camaro has the following: anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, lane change alert, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, tire pressure monitoring, and a reverse camera with parking sensors.
