2019 Lexus RC gets an LC-inspired makeover

The refreshed 2019 Lexus RC now looks like a baby LC

It has been quite awhile since the Lexus RC has received any changes. There was the inclusion of a new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four along with an AWD variant back in 2015. There was also a special edition F variant which celebrated Lexus' F division last February of this year. But beyond that, the RC pretty much remained as it is...until now.

For those that thought Lexus has abandoned the two-door coupe, think again as the company just revealed the 2019 RC. Set to make its public debut at this year's Paris Motor Show, Lexus claims that the RC features sharper aesthetics, enhanced driving performance, and a more refined cabin.

Taking inspiration from the LC grand tourer, Lexus claims the 2019 RC adopts a 'sharper and more graceful driving Concept'. Looking a lot like a baby LC, the refreshed two-door now has a mesh spindle front grill, redesigned headlights, L-shaped LED daytime running lights, and a tweaked front bumper. Lexus was also busy changing things at the back of the 2019 RC. Restyled L-shaped taillights, new corner air ducts on the rear bumper, as well as a slightly revised rear bumper make their way in the RC.

Inside, more styling cues from the bigger LC make their way to the RC. Besides having the same analog clock, the updated RC gets redesigned seats, a smaller diameter steering wheel, new trim pieces and bigger knee pads. New coats of paint, as well as interior trim and finishes round up the changes in the 2019 RC.

Exact engine lineup for the 2019 Lexus RC remains to be seen. However, it will most likely have the 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, as well as the naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 available still. There is also no word if a F variant will also be available in the 2019 RC. For now, Lexus announced that the RC will have better engine response and improved steering feel for a sharper, more refined driving experience. The company also mentioned that the RC now has stiffer suspension bushings and new shock absorbers.

More details regarding the 2019 Lexus RC will be revealed when it officially makes its public debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October.
