The midsize sedan market may be becoming a niche segment in the age of crossovers and SUVs. But that has not stopped automakers from upgrading and refreshing their big sedans. Shortly following the debut of the all-new Toyota Camry in Thailand, Nissan also launched the sleeker and more high-tech Teana.
According to the automaker, the 2019 Teana has been imbued with Nissan's suite of Intelligent Mobility features for a more comfortable and safer driving experience.
“At Nissan, we continue to put our customers at the heart of everything we do. I believe the new Teana, with its enhanced design and sophisticated features and Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies, will meet the needs and expectations of even our most sophisticated customers,” said Antoine Barthes, Nissan Thailand president.
Starting with its design, the refreshed Teana gets a revised V-Motion front grill that is paired with elongated headlights. Also receiving a makeover is the front bumper which gets new foglight bezels and a more muscular design. New two-tone alloy wheels, along with the boomerang-shaped taillights give the Teana its sporty and more dynamic appearance.
Pop the doors open and you are greeted by black leather upholstery on the seats and a multifunction steering wheel. All models of the Teana come with dual automatic climate control, engine start/stop button, 3D TFT multi-info display, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear power sunshade and smart entry/exit. Available in high-grade models is a 7-inch touchscreen display that supports AM/FM radio, USB, Bluetooth, Aux and navigation.
But perhaps the most important upgrade on the 2019 Teana are the wide array of Intelligent Mobility features. With it, the refreshed Teana now comes with the following safety kit: lane departure warning, blind spot warning, moving object detection and a 360-degree around-view monitor. Other safety features available in the 2019 Teana include a reverse camera, front and rear parking sensors, traction control, hill-start assist, and a host of airbags.
Under the hood, the 2019 Teana is powered by either a 2.5-liter QR25DE inline-four or a 2.0-liter MR20DE four-cylinder motor. The former puts out 173 PS at 6000 rpm with 234 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm, while the latter musters 136 PS at 5600 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm. Both engines are connected to Nissan's Xtronic CVT that drives the front wheels.
