The all-new Toyota Vios is officially in the Philippines
After officially rolling out the 2019 Vios at their plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna, Toyota Motor Philippines has now launched the all-new Vios. It replaces the previous-generation model which has been on sale in the Philippine market since 2013. The 2019 Vios is also being assembled locally, just like the previous generation models.
In review, the Vios being offered here is known as the Yaris Ativ in Thailand and elsewhere in the world. Rather than choosing to follow Toyota Motor Thailand's decidion to rename, TMP has decided to retain the Vios name plate.
Earlier in the week, AutoIndustriya.com was already able to acquire a copy of the brochure of the all-new Vios. As mentioned in the article, the 2019 Vios will be available with 6 different variants: 1.3 Base Model, 1.3 J, 1.3 E, 1.3 E Prime, 1.5 G, and 1.5 G Prime. Both the 1.3 E Prime and 1.5 G Prime are the newest addition to the model range. Each of these trim levels have their own distinct differences, all of which have been detailed in our earlier article here.
Apart from the trim differences, the Vios will continue to be offered with either a 1.3-liter or 1.5-liter engines. The 1.3-liter four-cylinder 1NR-FE engine continues to produce 98 PS and 123 Nm torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-liter four-cylinder 2NR-FE makes 106 PS and 140 Nm of torque. Depending on the trim, both engines can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a continously-variable transmission (CVT).
The biggest upgrade on the 2019 Vios would be the safety features. All variants, yes even the fleet-spec 1.3 Base Model, come equipped with seven airbags, EBD, and brake assist. Stability Control will also come standard.
