When Ford Philippines first launched the 2020 Everest in the country last August, many were asking as to where was the Trend version. Ever since the third-generation Everest came into the Philippines, the Trend served as the mid-range variant that offered bang for buck value.
After a brief disappearance, Ford Philippines has officially brought back the Trend for 2020.
So what are the changes that Ford made on the Trend variant? Starting with the exterior, the SUV now comes with a new front grill derived from the Titanium version. It also gets a slightly tweaked front bumper and LED headlights with LED daytime running lights as standard. It does not get the new 20-inch alloy wheels though as it only rolls on the smaller 18-inch set carried-over from before.
As for the interior, the 2020 Everest Trend looks the same as the Titanium version apart from the new leather seats. However, Ford was busy packing the Trend with more standard equipment. It now has a reverse camera, power tailgate, and an additional driver's knee airbag, bringing the total number of airbags in the Everest Trend to seven.
Infotainment for the 2020 Everest Trend comes in the form of an 8-inch touchscreen display with SYNC 3. It supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and has intelligent voice control which can recognize various commands.
Unlike the top-of-the-line Everest Titanium models which now come with the 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbo-diesel engine, the 2020 Everest Trend is still powered by the familiar 2.2-liter TDCi turbo-diesel inline-four. As before, it puts out 160 PS along with 385 Nm of torque. Power is then sent only to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission with manual select.
Standard safety features on the 2020 Everest Trend (apart from the seven airbags) include: cruise control, electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, roll stability control, and hill-launch assist (also called hill-start assist).
The 2020 Ford Everest Trend is now available across all Ford dealerships in the country and retails for PhP 1,738,000. It comes in four exterior colors namely: Absolute Black, Aluminum Metallic, Arctic White, and Meteor Gray.
