An all-new variant of the Ford Everest will be introduced to the Philippine market in the coming weeks. Aside from reintroducing the Trend model for 2020, Ford Philippines will also be bringing in the Everest Sport variant.
Revealed late last year as a variant that slots in between the Trend and Titanium, the Everest Sport trades chrome for blacked-out accents and finishes. There's a new front grill painted in black that's exclusive to the Sport. Ford swapped out the silver-painted front bumper trim for black piece as well. In addition, the hood comes with the word ‘Everest’ spelled out in black lettering, and ‘Sport’ decals placed on the lower rear doors.
As for the interior, splashes of blue-painted panels on the dashboard replace the usual glossy gray trim. Meanwhile, the seats feature contrast stitching finished in blue which makes for a classier appearance. There is no word yet regarding the equipment levels on the PH-spec Everest Sport, but we won’t be surprised if it still comes with a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as dual-zone automatic climate control.
There are three engine options available on the Everest Sport, depending on the market where it will be sold. There's the 3.2-liter inline-five turbodiesel from the pre-facelift model, the new 2.0-liter turbodiesel, or the Raptor-sourced 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo. It is yet to be known what the Philippine-spec model will get but there is a chance we'll get it with a 2.0-liter turbo and rear-wheel drive. The single-turbo mill is good for 180 PS and 420 Nm of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission could also be the likely transmission choice available.
The 2020 Ford Everest Sport will make its local debut this March 18, 2020, with pricing to be announced on that date as well.
