Ford Philippines opens 2020 with a bang as they introduce a new variant of the Ranger. After debuting in Thailand last November, the Blue Oval has officially launched the 2020 Ranger FX4.
Looking a lot meaner and cooler than the rest of the range, the pick-up truck gets a plethora of goodies inside and out. In addition, the all-new FX4 is joined by uprated versions of the Ranger XLS, XLT, Wildtrak, and Ranger Raptor.
Starting with the FX4's exterior, it gets a new-style front grill painted black that gives it a bolder appearance. It also gets new front and rear bumpers derived from the XLT. However, a portion of the front apron is now finished in black for a more sinister look.
Finally, the FX4 rolls on bigger 18-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black, comes with a metal sports bar at the back, and is complemented by a wide array of 'FX4' decals and badging.
Stepping inside, this particular Ranger gets FX4-embossed leather seats as standard, along with red contrast stitching that spices up the interior. Further enhancing the pick-up's cabin are faux carbon fiber trim, and FX4-branded floor mats.
As far as amenities are concerned, the Ranger FX4 comes with the following: 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth, six-speaker sound system, manual air-conditioning, cruise control, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, leather-wrapped steering wheel, voice control, power-folding side mirrors, and a 12V power socket for the rear passengers.
Under the hood, the FX4 is powered by the familiar 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine. It produces 160 PS along with 385 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox with manual select, or a six-speed manual transmission. The 2020 Ranger FX4 is only available as 4x2 pick-up truck.
The 2020 Ford Ranger FX4 in manual trim retails for PhP 1,256,000 while the automatic version has a sticker price of PhP 1,316,000. Available exterior colors for the FX4 include: Absolute Black, Aluminum Metallic, Arctic White, Meteor Gray, and True Red.
Besides unveiling a new variant of their pick-up truck, Ford also revealed upgraded versions of existing variants of the Ranger, Ranger Wildtrak and Ranger Raptor. Starting with the XLS and XLT, all models now come with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, a new 4x2 A/T model joins the XLS Sport range and retails for PhP 1,122,000.
Meanwhile, 4x2 and 4x4 variants of the Ranger Wildtrak now have new wheel designs and LED headlights as standard. Only available for the 4x4 versions (as well as the Ranger Raptor) is a camera-based Autonomous Emergency Braking system with pedestrian protection, and a high-mount USB port that can power dashcams.
