We saw it in Luzon, we saw it in Visayas, and now, it's finally in Mindanao. The 2019 Isuzu D-Max has landed in Davao. Not only that, we and other customers were able to take it through its paces off-road with the Mindanao leg of Isuzu's Tough Enough for Anything 4x4 challenge.

Held at SM Lanang in Davao City, the three-day off-roading event ran from September 20 to 22, along with its debut in the region. Not only that, Isuzu also announced their first customers for the revamped pickup, with the City of Davao purchasing several units. Also, a majority of the first customers in Davao chose the 4x4 variants with manual transmissions.

For the 2019 model year, the D-Max LS-A gets a more imposing front end courtesy of a new front grill and bumper design. The former now comes in a gray finish and has a bigger and wider opening. The latter, on the other hand, gets a unique bumper guard complete with a steel skid plate. 4x4 models even get a transfer case protector for added protection.

Further beefing up the looks of the 2019 D-Max LS-A matte-finished lip moldings on the fenders, 18-inch alloy wheels lifted from the Mu-X LS-A, cargo bed extenders, additional plastic moldings below the doors, and the gray-colored side mirror caps and roof rails. The new bumpers have made it slightly longer than the soon to be outgoing LS-A variant (by 50 mm), and ground clearance is also up by 65 mm, allowing it to have more off-road capability. Also, all variants get the engine management system that cuts out engine power when the accelerator and brake pedal are applied at the same time.

So what's the 2019 D-Max 4x4 LS-A like off-road? We'll put up a full story soon, but we can say we're more than impressed with its capabilities.
