Kia Philippines has just officially announced the pricing of the all-new Seltos.
The Seltos will be the smallest crossover in the Kia line up, slotting in under the Sportage. It will rival models such as the Hyundai Kona, Nissan Juke, and Honda HR-V.
On their social media page, Kia Philippines confirmed that they will have three model grades for the new Korean-made crossover: the base model Seltos LX will be priced at PhP 1,098,000. The mid-grade model will be the EX and will be priced at PhP 1,198,000.
Surprisingly, Kia has changed the model designation they originally had for range topping model. Instead of using the EX+ designation, Kia will refer to the top of the line model as the Seltos SX, and has priced it at PhP 1,498,000.
The Seltos was designed at their Namyang, South Korea design studio, and had its world premiere in India a few months ago.
Kia has not confirmed the official specifications of the Seltos, but we know that they will not be selling the all-wheel drive models. All Seltos units for the Philippine market will be front wheel drive only, and will have torsion beam rear suspension.
All local Seltos units will be powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine that makes 149 PS and 180 Nm of torque. All models will have a continuously variable transmission called an IVT.
Local models will likely get the smaller 8-inch touchscreen audio unit instead of the 10.25-inch screen that we tried in South Korea during the global press drive. We expect the base model to have the standard features, though the top of the line SX will be the interesting model of the bunch given that we expect it to have many of the nice and funky features (like the unusual lighting) and the Bose audio that we experienced in South Korea.
As per the launch schedule of Kia, the Seltos will make its local debut next month.
