We showed you the updated Nissan Sylphy just a couple of days ago when we covered the 2019 Singapore Motor Show. Now it looks like that facelift isn't long for this world. After five years in the market, Nissan is preparing an all-new model.
Chinese motoring website Autohome managed to obtain photos of the next-generation Sentra/Sylphy and, by the looks of things, it's a dramatic change from the current model. Drawing inspiration from its big brother, the Altima, the car now follow's Nissan's current design language. It now sports the V-Motion grill, slim upswept headlights, defined bumper corners, and a sharp-looking apron.
There's more of the Altima cues on the car's sides, especially when you look at the sedan's rear pillar. The 2020 Sylphy (or Sentra, if you prefer that name) gets a sleek, fastback-like roof profile to go along with its radical redesign. As for its flanks, there are defined character lines that run through the fenders, doors, and quarter panels.
At the rear, the 2020 Sylphy/Sentra gets a bold new look. Like the front, the tail lights are slimmer and has a unique shape. The sedan's shoulder line also gives it a wider-looking stance. Its rear bumper is wide and rounded, and it comes with integrated diffusers as well. Dimensions have apparently leaked early as well. According to the report, the car measures in at 4,641 mm long, 1,815 mm wide, and 1,450 mm tall. For comparison basis, the current model is at 4,620 mm long, 1,760 mm wide, and 1,495 mm tall.
The spy photos also shows the car with a Sylphy badge at the back, so it seems it will retain that name for the Chinese market at least. However, sources say that the name Sentra could make a comeback in the Philippines. For now, the name change is still under consideration so don't expect Sentra badges on this car just yet. If it does return, it will be nice to see it back on Nissan's compact sedan.
