Ssangyong Philippines really wants to make a statement in the local pickup truck market. After showing that they are capable of making a posh pickup truck with the Musso, Ssangyong has revealed a bigger variant of the midsize truck, the Musso Grand.

At first glance, it appears the Musso Grand looks the same as the standard Musso. However, one will immediately notice that the Grand looks bigger. That's because it has a longer bed which measures 1610mm long, 1570mm wide, and 571mm tall. According to Ssangyong, this makes the Grand's bed the longest, widest, and deepest in the market today.

Speaking of dimensions, Ssangyong also claimed that the Grand Musso is the longest pickup truck in the Philippines as it measures 5,405mm long (+310mm). Width and height remains the same, however, at 1950mm and 1840mm respectively. Also worth mentioning is its leaf-spring rear which increased the pickup truck's cargo capacity from 850 kg to 1,025 kg. Those that still prefer coil springs on their Musso can still do so with the non-Grand versions.

Inside, the Grand Musso in 4x4 trim comes with fine brown leather upholstery along with a sunroof as standard. Both front seats are electronically-adjustable and come with heating and ventilation for added comfort. It is also the lone variant that comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a six-speaker sound system. Finally, it comes with dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, as well as six airbags.

Lesser variants like the 4x2 A/T and 4x2 M/T only have black fabric seats, manual-adjust front seats, 3.5-inch audio display, four-speaker sound system, manual air-conditioning, standard rearview mirror, and only dual airbags.

Like the standard Musso, the bigger Grand is also powered by a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel with e-VGT. When saddled with a six-speed automatic transmission, the engine produces 181 PS at 4000 rpm along with 420 Nm of torque at 1400 – 2800 rpm. As for the six-speed manual version, it still makes 181 PS but produces less torque at 400 Nm only. As mentioned earlier, the top-of-the-line Musso Grand is available with part-time 4WD.

Standard safety features available on the 4x4 Musso Grand include: anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, active rollover protection, stability control, hill-descent control, alarm with immobilizer, keyless entry, as well as a reverse camera. The 4x2 versions get the same amount of features apart from the active rollover protection, stability control, and hill-descent control as they are only equipped on the 4x4.
