Aside from holding a preview of the Evoltis, Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru vehicles in the country also launched a new variant of the popular Forester. This is the 2020 Forester GT Edition.

Building on the original design of the Forester, the stylish kit was made in collaboration with Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi, Subaru's former chief designer. If the name rings a bell, that's because Kobayashi is credited for the exterior design of more than 12 Subaru vehicles, including the WRX STI.

Immediately noticeable on the Forester GT Edition is the four-piece aero kit. It consists of a front bumper extension, a distinct pair of side skirts, rear bumper extension, and a big spoiler at the back. Completing the exterior upgrades are the sporty 18-inch GT alloy wheels which Subaru says are bespoke to the GT Edition.

Changes in the interior, meanwhile, are mostly subtle and only consist of the new white contrast padding on both the front and rear seats. Since the Forester GT is based on the i-S EyeSight, it has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a unique full-leather interior. But perhaps its most important upgrade is the addition of a 360-degree around-view camera system which helps drivers park or maneuver with ease.

Under the hood, the Forester GT Edition is powered by the familiar 2.0-liter, direct-injection Boxer engine. It produces 156 PS along with 196 Nm of torque. Power is then shifted to all four wheels via a Lineartronic CVT and Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.

"We are proud to introduce the Forester GT Edition to the Philippines. Now, the Forester looks more rugged yet refined, sophisticated and sporty. It is specially made for those who want to stand out from the crowd and defy convention," said Glenn Tan, Deputy Chairman, and Managing Director of Tan Chong Limited.

Customers can start placing orders for the Forester GT Edition beginning March 12, 2020, at all Subaru dealerships nationwide. Available colors for the Forester GT Edition include Crystal Black Pearl, Crystal White Pearl, Dark Gray Metallic, Ice Silver Metallic, Crimson Red Pearl, and Sepia Bronze Metallic.

The 2020 Subaru Forester GT Edition retails for PhP 2,120,000.
