If you didn't really like the Kona’s current design, then we may have some interesting news for you: Hyundai will be unveiling the updated 2021 Kona very soon. And based on the teaser photos provided, it will look a lot different from the Kona we’ve come to know.
Better yet, Hyundai has added a new N-Line variant, giving the funky crossover a much sportier look.
There are not a lot of details about the Kona at the moment but from the teaser photos, the Kona will feature a thoroughly revised front end. The two-tier LED headlights are a lot sharper than before and instead of a single projector, the Kona now has three individual light elements. The bumper, together with the grille has also been revised, giving it a more aggressive look. Noticeably, the fog lamps located on the lower intake have been removed, at least in the teaser photos. Hyundai says the design is inspired by that of a shark nose.
As for the N-Line variant (main photo), the Kona gets a mesh grille, larger air intakes, and three small inlets between the LED daytime running lights. The Hyundai logo was also moved to the center of the grill. Though it is quite hard to tell, the N-Line appears to have a different bumper as seen with the horizontal element below the main headlight.
For the time being, Hyundai has only revealed the front styling updates of the 2021 Kona. Interestingly, the automaker did say that a front skid plate “adds to its armored appearance”. However, we couldn’t really see a skid plate in any of the teaser photos provided.
More details about the 2021 Kona are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. At the moment, we don’t know if any changes will be made to the rear or to the powertrain. With a Kona N-Line already in the works, we hope that a Kona N would be the next step for Hyundai.
