For sports sedan fans in the country, it was a relatively quick wait. Just five months after its global premiere, the new Lexus IS is now in the country. Now, we'd typically wait about a year after a car makes its world debut, but we're glad Lexus Philippines brought it in as fast as they could.

The Lexus IS gets even more dynamic design cues with sharp angles and defined lines featured throughout its body. The sedan also gets the most aggressive iteration of the L-Finesse design language, but that comes as no surprise. After all, the IS aims for the (well-off) young, upwardly mobile professionals worldwide.

While the exterior is different from the outgoing model, it's not quite the same case under the chassis. The fourth iteration of the Lexus IS is an extensive re-skin of the current model, but is arguably a new generation model given the many upgrades. It gains new suspension components that include a wider track, along with lighter coil springs, A-arms, and stabilizer bars. The chassis is also re-tuned, and Lexus claims it has more dynamic handling than its predecessor. That's a bold claim since the outgoing model is one of the most engaging and sharpest-feeling sports sedans out there.

Step inside, and it's clear that the 2021 IS is still based on the previous model. The dashboard should look familiar to current IS owners. From the floating infotainment screen to the round air-conditioning vents, casual observers will find it difficult to put apart the third and fourth-generation versions. On the other hand, eagle-eyed enthusiasts will notice the wider infotainment screen and the touchpad by the gear selector. Also, the new IS comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
Lexus 2.5L hybrid
For the Philippines, there are two IS variants available, the first one being a hybrid. Yes, Lexus Philippines is now offering the hybrid version of the IS sports sedan. Dubbed the IS 300h Premier, it uses a 2.5-liter engine paired to an electric motor. The result is a combined output of 220 PS, and Lexus also says it can get up to 18.8 kilometers per liter. Shifting is handled by a continuously variable transmission.
Lexus 3.5L V6
Of course, Lexus Philippines didn't forget about their performance-oriented clientele. They also have the IS 350 F Sport available in showrooms now. The engine is still the same 3.5-liter V6, but it gets a slight power bump. From 312 PS and 378 Nm of torque in the previous model, the 2021 edition puts out 315 PS and 380 Nm of torque. Sure it's not much of a power upgrade, but we welcome more power any day. Like before, the new IS 350 Sport uses an eight-speed automatic transmission
Both these variants come standard with what's called the Lexus Safety System (LSS). It includes features such as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Automatic High Beam. The F Sport benefits from the Pre-Collision System with automatic emergency braking.
Prices for the 2021 Lexus IS are as follows:

2021 Lexus IS 350 F Sport: Php 3,808,000
