Have you ever thought about what the letter F means for Lexus?
Each car that bears the 'F' badge signifies greater performance that has been thoroughly tested by the automaker at Fuji Speedway. This means that the IS F, the RC F, the GS F, and even the LFA, all went through a trial by fire before being arriving at dealerships worldwide hence the significance of the letter F: Fuji.
So when Lexus launched the special edition RC F Fuji Edition, we were slightly confused. Why add another "Fuji" to a car that's already proven its worth at Toyota's temple of speed? Think Ferrari LaFerrari.
Well, this unique RC F actually pays special tribute to the speedway with what Lexus describes as 'master-crafted upgrades'.
According to Lexus, the Fuji Edition is lighter and has more unique features compared to the RC F. It now has Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust, and extensive use of carbon fiber aerodynamics. With it, Lexus claims the Fuji Edition is far from just an appearance package and will allow the RC F to go from 0 – 97 km/h in 3.96 seconds. The standard RC F can go from 0 - 97 km/h in over 4 seconds.
Besides getting a plethora of upgrades, the RC F Fuji Edition will also come in two distinct shades: Arctic Blast Satin or Cloudburst Gray. The former (which is a new color), features a unique white paint processing that has a semi-matte finish yet is durable enough to through an automatic car wash as Lexus claims. As for the interior, the Fuji Edition gets Circuit Red leather seats with Alcantara accents, along with Red Carbon Fiber accents for that added sporty flair.
Under the hood, the 2021 RC F Fuji Edition gets its power from a 5.0-liter, naturally-aspirated V8. It generates 478 PS and 535 Nm of torque. It is then coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The RC F also benefits from a higher final drive ratio (3.13 vs previous 2.93) for faster acceleration, and launch control.
Interested in getting an RC F Fuji Edition? Better think fast as only 60 units will be made. Each one will come with a limited-production MSTR automatic movement watch as part of the bundle. Each timepiece will come with RC F-inspired elements such as a gunmetal bezel, red stitching on its band, and Fuji Speedway and F logos.
