When Maxus first came to the Philippines in mid-2019, they came with a pair of vans, the G10, and the multi-purpose V80. Then in 2020, the automaker brought two new contenders, the T60 pick-up truck, and the sleek G50 MPV.
For 2021, they decided to greet the new decade with an all-new crossover. This is the Maxus D60 and it's aimed against the likes of the Chery Tiggo 8, Nissan X-Trail, and the Honda CR-V. The D60 serves as the brand's first-ever crossover that offers sharp looks, high-tech features, a turbocharged powertrain, and a bevy of standard safety features across the range.
The D60 features a massive front grille that is complemented by a chrome trim piece, and sleek daytime running lights. It also gets neat touches of silver trim on the front bumper, side sills, and rear bumper. Meanwhile, plastic body cladding gives the D60 a more rugged appeal. In the Pro variant seen here, the D60 rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels and comes with halogen headlights. As for the Elite version, it gets bigger 18-inch alloys, as well as LED headlights.
In terms of size, the D60 measures 4720mm long, 1860mm wide, 1736mm tall, and has a 2760mm wheelbase.
Sitting front and center inside the D60 is a tablet-like screen. The upper portion houses the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, while the bottom half has the air-conditioning system. Standard amenities available across the range include USB and Bluetooth connectivity, a six-speaker sound system, rear aircon vents, and flat-bottomed steering with cruise control.
Available only on the range-topping Elite are full-leather upholstery and keyless engine start. Speaking of Elite, the top-end variant comes with three rows of seats that can accommodate seven passengers. Meanwhile, the standard Pro model featured here only gets two rows which can seat five in total.
Under the hood, the D60 is powered by a 1.5-liter, direct-injection turbo inline-four. It makes 169 PS at 5500 rpm, along with 250 Nm of torque at 1700 - 4300 rpm. Power is then sent to the front wheels by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
All models of the D60 come with the following safety features: dual front and side airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, auto brake hold, electronic stability control, hill-hold control (aka hill-start assist), parking sensors, reverse camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Available colors for the D60 are Competitive Orange, Metal Black, Polar Ash, Wace Red, Warm Argent, and Warm White.
