RR stretches the Ghost for extra space

Despite being the “entry-level” Rolls-Royce, the 2021 Ghost is still a very posh sedan. Just like the flagship Phantom, nearly all the options, designs, and luxurious features you can think of can be added on fee.

There is one exception: you can't have extra legroom if you wanted to in the Ghost. Well, until now.

Rolls-Royce has something in store for customers that want a Ghost with more space and legroom, and their solution is the 2021 Ghost Extended.

How much more space does the Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended offer? Well, the British luxury marque says it offers 170 mm more space compared to the standard Ghost. As a result, it provides more rear legroom than any four-door sedan, even beating the Phantom. The only other four-door sedan with more legroom would be the Phantom Extended.

Despite being a lot longer, it is hard to distinguish the standard Ghost and this Extended model. Rolls-Royce cloaked the extra length by only extending the rear-door and body surrounding it. As a result, it allowed designers to retain the original sleek lines and design of the new Ghost which we initially saw a few weeks back. For reference, the 2021 Ghost Extended looks very much like the flagship Phantom apart from the large grill.

Since the Ghost Extended is essentially just a longer model, all of the running gear has been carried over. Under the hood, it uses the same 6.75-liter V12 as the Cullinan and produces 570 PS and 850 Nm torque. An 8-speed automatic gearbox then sends power to all four wheels. Interestingly, it also comes with all-wheel steering for the very first time.

No price was announced for the 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended, but do expect to pay a bit more for the extra legroom and space in the cabin. In the US, the standard Ghost already starts at USD 332,500 (Php 16.2 million), and that's without adding extra features yet. Expect Philippine prices to be double (more or less) given the cost of importing and taxes.

So if you want a posh sedan with lots of legroom, but don't want to break the bank (if your bank is Swiss) for a Phantom Extended, then this Ghost Extended would be perfect for you.
