Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is updating the Rush for the 2021 model year. By update, however, we don't mean a refresh or facelift. The updated Rush will look exactly the same as the one Toyota launched back in 2018. Instead, TMP announced that for 2021, one of their best-selling SUVs now comes with three-row seating as standard.
Even though it was pegged as a 7-seater, only the Rush 1.5 G variant was available with three-row seating prior to the 2021 update. The 1.5 E (both M/T and A/T) previously had only 5-seats as standard. But thanks to the update, all variants now come with three rows of seats. Another feature that is now available on the 1.5 E is the reverse camera, which used to be available only on the 1.5 G variant as well.
“We at Toyota continuously listen to the requests of our customers to make improvements in our cars. The Rush is a favorite family vehicle, and with the Filipino’s close-knit and often extended family, we added the third row to bring the joy of moving together to more members,” said Sherwin Chualim, First Vice President of TMP's Vehicle Sales Operations.
As mentioned earlier, the rest of the vehicle remains unchanged for 2021. It features the same 220 mm ground clearance, 7-inch infotainment system, back sonar, 6 SRS airbags, vehicle stability control, and more. Under the hood sits the familiar 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 104 PS and 142 Nm torque that powers the rear wheels.
The updated 2021 Rush 1.5 E retails at PhP 983,000 for the M/T variant and PhP 1,023,000 for the A/T. Meanwhile, the top-grade 1.5 G now has an SRP of PhP 1,100,000.
