Maserati Philippines has officially entered the electrified age. After making its world debut last year, Modena Motorsports Inc. has officially launched the 2022 Maserati Ghibli Hybrid.
Combining high-performance with efficiency, the Ghibli Hybrid is the brand's first-ever electrified model – which signals their commitment to building more environmentally-friendly vehicles.
Beginning with its design, and the new Ghibli Hybrid looks just like any other Ghibli on the road. But thanks to neat touches of Cobalt Blue accents throughout the exterior, it makes the hybrid stand out from the rest. From the fender vents, brake calipers, and the blue lighting bolt on the C-pillar badge, this is no ordinary Maserati. Other exterior highlights present on the Ghibli Hybrid include a Diapason-styled front grille and new boomerang-shaped taillights inspired by the classic 3200 GT.
Inside, the blue accents found on the outside are also seen inside Maserati's newest offering. From the contrast stitching, embossed Maserati logos on the headrests, and on the door panels, the blue hue is highlighted throughout the cabin. There's also a new 10.1-inch frameless touchscreen infotainment system and new dials/gauges on the instrument panel.
Under the hood is an all-new engine. Instead of a V6, the Ghibli Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is helped along by a 48V BSG (belt-starter generator). This makes this particular Ghibli a mild hybrid vehicle (MHEV) that combines the best of pure engine performance with the efficiency of a traditional hybrid.
It makes 330 PS with 450 Nm of torque and is paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. 0 – 100 km/h can be dispatched in as little as 5.7 seconds. Maserati says they're aiming the Ghibli Hybrid to average 12.5 km/l at the most in mixed driving conditions, while also achieving 25% fewer emissions than the gasoline V6. Last but not least, they claim that the smaller 2.0-liter engine delivers better weight distribution compared to the six-cylinder engines.
