The Mirage G4 is still one of the most fuel efficient cars in the country

If there's one aspect the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 excels at, it's fuel economy. So when the facelifted model debuted earlier this year, most of us expected it to continue being the fuel-efficient sedan like before.

Most of the changes are limited to the exterior, after all. But to further show that the 2022 Mirage G4 is still a fuel-efficient vehicle, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) teamed up with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) to do an official fuel economy run.

The economy run was done on the expressways. Although the starting and ending points were not mentioned, Mitsubishi said they headed northbound along the SCTEX and TPLEX, covering a total distance of 236.227 kilometers with the Mirage G4 GLS 1.2 CVT. To simulate real-life driving conditions, vehicles were at full fuel capacity and tires set to 32 psi. They also cruised at an average of 80 km/h while observing traffic regulations and limits. Lastly, there are three passengers on-board without baggage and the air-con set to lowest temperature setting and lowest fan speed.

2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 can do up to 22.8 km/L image

Based on the latest test, the Mirage G4 managed to average 22.823 km/L on highway driving. We're not surprised, though. During our review with the Mirage G4 GLS, we averaged around 20 km/L, close to the official figures. The same 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine was used in the pre-facelift model, after all. It also shows that 76 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque along with a CVT is enough for fuel-efficient highway driving.

“The Mirage G4 is a global model developed on three concepts, high fuel efficiency, affordability, and easy to drive. All of which we uphold to our customers with and through our new local slogan Life Made Better. The positive results from the recently concluded Fuel Economy Run together with AAP, supports Mitsubishi’s commitment to uplift the ownership experience of Filipinos. No better way to manifest this than through a vehicle that is easy on the pockets and allows them to follow their hearts and be ‘G4’ anything,” said Hara Takeshi, MMPC president, and CEO.

The 2022 Mirage G4 is available in three variants – GLX MT, GLX CVT, and GLS CVT. Customers can also choose between eight body colors for the sedan. To know more about the vehicle and Life Made Better, visit the MMPC website and official Facebook page.
