The Subaru Evoltis (aka the Ascent) may have just been launched in the country last May, but in North America, the automaker has already given it a special edition look. Called the Ascent Onyx Edition, the 7-seater SUV gets a mean makeover courtesy of a blacked-out finish, along with a unique interior upholstery.
The Onyx Edition gets an all-black exterior paint and black badges that complement the vehicle's dark aesthetics. The usual chrome bits have also been replaced with black-painted trim, while the front grille has been painted black. The 20-inch alloy wheels, meanwhile, received a glossy black finish which further adds to the Onyx Edition's aggressive look.
Instead of the usual full-leather upholstery, the seats on the Onyx Edition are wrapped in the company's StarTex water-repellant material. The automaker claims that it's more durable and easier to clean in case of spillage.
Other available features inside the special edition Ascent include: reverse automatic braking, power tailgate, heated steering wheel, and keyless access with push-button start. There's also the optional panoramic moonroof, satellite navigation, and a retractable cargo cover.
Like the standard models, the Onyx Edition is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer engine. It makes 260 PS at 5600 rpm, along with 375 Nm of torque at 2000 – 4800 rpm. Power is then sent to a Lineartronic CVT with Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive (S-AWD).
For now, it looks like the Ascent Onyx Edition is only available for the North American market. But considering that the PH-spec models are also made at Subaru's Indiana plant in the U.S. means Motor Image Pilipinas could get their hands on several examples of the blacked-out special.
Assuming that Subaru brings in several Onyx Edition units here, would you be willing to shell out extra money for the all-black Evoltis?
