Would the 2022 Suzuki S-Cross work in the Philippines?
If you wanted to buy a high-riding vehicle from Suzuki, there are only three to choose from in the Philippines – the Vitara AllGrip, the XL7, and the Jimny. But in other markets, the Japanese marque does have a few more models available. The newest high-riding model from Suzuki is the 2022 S-Cross, and it is one good-looking crossover.
While the S-Cross might sound like an all-new model, the crossover has been around since 2006 and was even previously sold in the Philippines. However, you might also be more familiar with its previous name – the SX4.
Compared to its predecessor, the model has grown and looks more mature and rugged. The front end shares a similar design to that of the XL7 featuring a bold grille flanked by three-point LED headlights. Thick black cladding then runs along the bottom portion of the bumper and connects to the wheel arches.
At the rear, it adopts a pair of clear LED taillights which are larger and wider compared to the outgoing model. Meanwhile, the extended bumper helps add a more rugged touch, especially with the plastic skid plate. Rounding up the exterior changes are the new wheels. All of the changes on this third-generation model make the S-Cross look more like a proper crossover ready to hit the light trail. Fortunately, Suzuki gave it the drivetrain to match.
Powering the 2022 S-Cross is a 1.4-liter gasoline engine paired with a mild-hybrid which produces a total output of 127 horsepower and 235 Nm torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. While it does come standard in front-wheel drive, Suzuki offers it with an optional AllGrip all-wheel drive.
Suzuki says the 2022 S-Cross will first be available in Europe, followed by Latin America, Oceania, and Asia. Considering it will be sold in Asia, do you think Suzuki Philippines should offer it locally? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
