After dropping a teaser image of its newest variant of the popular midsize 7-seater SUV earlier this week, Nissan Philippines Inc (NPI) has officially launched the 2023 Terra Sport.
Now serving as the new range-topping variant, the Terra Sport comes with all the bells and whistles you would find on the VL 4x2 and 4x4 versions. However, this new Sport offering gets a dark makeover compared to the regular VL and is also available in either 4x2 or 4x4 guises.
First and foremost is the generous use of blacked-out accents and trim pieces. From the LED foglight bezels, front grille, front and rear bumper garnishes, door handles, side mirror caps, roof rails, step boards, rear spoiler, and tailgate garnish, the 2023 Terra Sport looks good with the dark accents. But it is perhaps the 18-inch black alloy wheels that highlight the Terra Sport’s darker side.
Bolder looks aside, those interested in getting the 2023 Tera Sport will be happy to know it will also come with the following; quad LED headlights with an auto-leveling feature, and power-folding side mirrors for extra convenience.
Like the exterior, Nissan also made sure the interior of the Terra Sport comes with the blacked-out treatment. It gets a black leather interior with black accents which will remind everyone that you’re in no ordinary Terra. And just like the Terra VL from which the Sport is based, a wide array of features and amenities are fitted in the new top-of-the-line variant.
These include:
-8-inch touchscreen infotainment
-Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
-Bose 8-speaker sound system (VL 4x4 only)
-11-inch flip-down monitor with HDMI input
-Dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents
-7-inch color TFT instrument panel
-Zero Gravity front seats
-Wireless charging pad
-Rear USB charging ports
Under the hood, the 2.5-liter turbocharged YD25DDTi powers the 2023 Terra Sport. Both the 4x2 and 4x4 versions produce 190 PS at 3600 rpm along with 450 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. It is then mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. The 4x4 version is equipped with an electronic locking rear differential and a shift-on-the-fly 4WD system that can be set to 2H, 4H, and 4L.
Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility features are standard in both the 4x2 and 4x4 Terra Sport models. That means drivers will be happy to know it will come with the following driver aids;
-Intelligent Around View Monitor
-Intelligent rearview mirror
-Intelligent Forward Collision Warning
-Intelligent Emergency Braking
-Intelligent Driver Alertness
-Lane Departure Warning
-Blind Spot Warning
-Rear Cross Traffic Alert
-Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Other safety features available include anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, front and rear parking sensors, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, cruise control, speed-sensing door locks, and 6 airbags.
“The Nissan Terra Sport is a perfect representation of Nissan's innovative and exciting DNA. With its rugged yet sleek styling, it perfectly embodies Nissan's commitment to providing customers with vehicles that are not only functional but also stylish and fun to drive,” said NPI president Juan Miguel Hoyos.
The 2023 Terra Sport is available in two distinct variants; the VL 4x2 which retails for PHP 2,119,000 and the VL 4x4 which is priced at PHP 2,459,000. Available colors for the Terra Sport are the following - Aspen Pearl White (extra PHP 15,000), Galaxy Black, Fiery Red, and Stealth Pearl Gray.
