2024 GranCabrio Folgore: Maserati debuts drop top EV
Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is the GranTurismo Folgore's drop top twin

Maserati’s all-electric Folgore range has welcomed its newest member, and it’s for those who enjoy drop-top motoring.
Say hello to the 2024 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore – which is essentially the open-top version of the GranTurismo Folgore that’s coming to the country by the latter part of the year.

That means, the GranCabrio Folgore also gets three electric motors; one in front, and two at the back. Powering the three radial-flux permanent-magnet motors is a 92.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack derived from Formula E, producing 761 PS and 1350 Nm of torque. In short bursts under “MaxBoost” mode, that goes up to 830 PS.

Maserati claims a range of 447 km from the GranCabrio Folgore using the WLTP cycle, which is not too far from the 455 km range being offered by the GranTurismo Folgore. As with its coupe sibling, the charging system supports AC charging up to 22 kW and DC charging up to 270 kW.
In terms of performance, the GranCabrio Folgore reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 2.8 seconds – just 0.1 seconds slower than its coupe counterpart. The extra steel used to reinforce the chassis made the GranCabrio Folgore some 90 kg heavier than the GranTurismo Folgore.

In terms of the looks, the GranCabrio Folgore distinguishes itself from the gas-powered variants with a different front grille design. But despite being an EV, it does not have a flat surface on the grille so you still get the signature Maserati face.

Inside, the GranCabrio Folgore shares the same the elements with the ICE GranCabrio with a 12.2-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the center dashboard, and an 8.8-inch touchscreen for climate control. As with the gas-powered GranCabrio, the EV version likewise gets standard neck warmers and an optional wind deflector.

After the GranCabrio Folgore, Maserati is set to debut the MC20 Folgore supercar by 2025, which is all part of the Trident’s plans to fully electrify the entire lineup by 2028.
