Even has a selfie camera for Zoom or Webex

Mercedes-Benz doesn't want the upcoming E-Class to just take you from point A to point B. Apparently, the German manufacturer wants the cabin to be your living room on wheels.

Codenamed W124, Mercedes has started its teaser campaign for its upcoming luxury sedan. And as expected, the upcoming E-Class has a cabin that's pretty similar to the all-electric EQE with a three-screen layout on the dashboard. But unlike the EQE, the upcoming E-Class did away with the turbine-style vents and went for slimmer ones that connect to the central vent.

In addition, it's not just the tweaked layout that sets the E-Class apart from the EQE, as Mercedes basically turned the luxury sedan's MBUX infotainment system into an iPad – complete with a selfie camera for Zoom and Webex meetings, interactive games like Angry Birds, and most notably, a TikTok app.

Of course, that will pose a concern for driver distraction. However, Mercedes-Benz fitted the E-Class with a driver attention warning and also tracks down the driver's eye movements to make sure they are not looking at the two infotainment displays. Whenever the driver is caught looking at the screens, the brightness can be reduced to make it less visible, while still allowing the passengers to view content.

Aside from the expanded features of the MBUX system, the E-Class will also get Active Ambient Lighting that automatically changes depending on the music you're playing. And speaking of the audio system, the E-Class will have a Burmester surround sound system with 17 speakers and 4 transducers as standard equipment.

For now, that's all the German manufacturer has released regarding the new E-Class, but expect the luxury sedan to have its world premiere this year.
