Soon-to-be-launched Suzuki Invicto is the Toyota Innova in disguise

Ever since Toyota and Suzuki started collaborating in 2018, the two Japanese automakers have started sharing powertrain technologies, as well as cross-supplying different vehicles for specific markets.

Thanks to the partnership, Suzuki now has the Swace and Across hybrid vehicles which are essentially rebadged (and slightly restyled) versions of the Corolla Wagon and RAV4, respectively. Meanwhile, Toyota is now selling the Ertiga and all-new Celerio as the Rumion and Vitz, accordingly in South Africa. Toyota was able to borrow Suzuki's mild-hybrid system for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in the Indian market.

Now, Suzuki will once again rebadge a Toyota vehicle, and this time it will be based on the all-new Innova Hycross. That's right, the third-generation Innova (also called the Innova Zenix) will also be available in Suzuki's lineup in India.

Suzuki rebadges all-new Innova as the 2024 Invicto image

According to a report by Indian publication Motorbeam, Suzuki will sell the Innova as the Invicto and it's reportedly set to be launched in July. Suzuki has also trademarked the Invicto name as early as 2020 based on the publication's report. More importantly, pictures of the Suzuki-badge Innova have already been spotted on Indian roads.

Looking at the grainy photos, the Invicto essentially looks the same as the Innova with some minor differences. For starters, it will come with Suzuki's signature grille design complete with a chrome trim piece. It will also have a unique front bumper which helps give the MPV a different look when compared to the Innova Hycross.

Powertrain details are not yet available. But we won't be surprised if it will be similar to that of what Toyota has. That means we can expect the Suzuki Invicto to be available with a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine and a 2.0-liter hybrid version that's helped along by an electric motor.

With Suzuki all set to launch the Invicto next month, do you think it will sell well against the Toyota Innova Hycross? Let us know in the comments what you think.
