2025 Land Rover Defender now available with captain chairs

We're nearly halfway into 2024 and Land Rover has decided now is the best time to reveal the updated Defender. You read right, the Land Rover Defender has been given an update for the 2025 model year. But wait a moment, doesn't the SUV still look the same as before?

For its latest update, Land Rover decided to give the Defender a more subtle refresh that consists of a simplified lineup, more luxurious amenities, a new variant with a distinct color palette, and a more powerful mild-hybrid turbo-diesel option.

Starting with the new turbo-diesel engine, the D300 has been replaced by the more powerful D350. This mild-hybrid 3.0-liter diesel powertrain makes 350 PS with 700 Nm of torque – an increase of 50 PS and 50 Nm, accordingly. For Land Rover, the new D350 will allow the 2025 Defender to overtake other vehicles as well as make towing easier effortlessly. The rest of the powertrain lineup sees the 2025 Defender continue to be available with turbo-gasoline engines, twin-turbo V8s, and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).

Style-wise, the 4x4 SUV looks the same as before. However, there is a new variant called the Defender 110 Sedona Edition. This new version will only be available for one year and is finished in a unique shade of Sedona Red inspired by the Arizona Desert. The red hue is then complemented by special decals on the hood along with 22-inch alloy wheels painted gloss black.

Hop inside and the Defender is now available with captain chairs on the second row. Exclusive only to the Defender 130, the SUV can now have 7 seats instead of the standard 8 via the optional Captain Chairs Pack. Not only are the two seats heated and ventilated, but they also have armrests, twin cupholders on a raised center console, and can be specified with winged headrests. Last but not least, the aisle between the captain chairs allows for easier ingress/egress for those seated in the third row.

There's also the new Signature Interior Pack that combines a comprehensive suite of upgrades to the 2025 Defender. For starters, the front seats are 14-way power-adjustable and come with heating/cooling functions complete with a memory function as well. When it comes to materials, the seats come in Windsor Leather & Kvadrat seats available in Ebony or Caraway/Ebony finishes. The Signature Interior Pack also adds a tactile Suedecloth headlining that's finished in either Light Cloud or Ebony.

As mentioned earlier, the 2025 Land Rover Defender now has a simplified lineup. It now consists of the S, X-Dynamic, SE, X-Dynamic HSE, and V8 models. The aforementioned variants are available in the 90, 110, and 130 Series body styles – allowing every discerning customer to choose what type of Defender they want to have.

With the 2025 Land Rover Defender sporting new upgrades, those looking to get one soon now have a good reason to put a reservation down.
