7th Henry Ford Awards launched with more categories
Launch features two new categories, bigger prizes
Coinciding with the 10th year anniversary of Ford in the Philippines, the 2007 Henry Ford Awards is launching an enhanced awards program that features new categories and bigger cash prizes. Aside from recognizing the media and thanking them for their decades-long support of Ford, it is also the first HFA for Ford's relatively new president, Rick Baker.
Interestingly, the 7th year of the HFA overlaps with Baker's 7-month tenure in the country. "I am just as excited as our media friends as we launch this year's Henry Ford Awards," said Baker.
"I think this is a wonderful opportunity for us at Ford to recognize the media for their in-depth reportage, candid reviews, and helpful insights on how best to serve the motoring public not just with great vehicles and services, but also with our commitment to advocacies like road safety, the environment and the use of alternative fuels," added Baker.
This year, the Henry Ford Awards features two new categories that recognize the ever-changing face of local motoring journalism.
For starters, it will now recognize the dynamic motoring editors and the team behind each publication's motoring section via the Best Motoring Section award under the Special Category. Undoubtedly, the motoring section plays a vital role in disseminating the news and raising the issues behind the local automotive industry. This new category seeks to recognize the unsung heroes, notably the editors, behind the pages.
The Best Motoring Section will be judged based on over-all look/layout, quality, content and/or variety of topics, local relevance and consistency. The motoring section should cover not just automobiles and reviews, but offer comprehensive reportage of trends and issues affecting the Philippine motoring industry.
Meanwhile, aficionados who feel the need for speed can enter their stories to the Motorsports Feature Story, a new category that allows reporters to enter write-ups that feature any of the following 4-wheel motorsports: rally racing, track racing, off-roading, Formula 1, Formula 3 or other similarly-related topics.
In addition, a welcome change for the 2007 Henry Ford Awards comes with the bigger awards prizes at stake: P40,000 for the regular categories and P50,000 for the special categories. All winners will also receive trophies and be inducted into the HFA Hall of Fame.
This year's HFA categories are Published Photograph for Newspaper, Published Photograph for Magazine, Automotive Test Drive/Automotive Event Story, Automotive Online Feature Story, Motoring Column Issue, Environment and Conservation Feature Story, Safety Feature Story, and Automotive Television Feature. There are also special categories, namely Automotive Industry Feature Story, Ford Feature Story, and Mazda Feature Story.
