Toyota has just launched the second iteration of the International Innovative Multipurpose Vehicle (IMV) Project, the Toyota Innova. Officially marketed as the Toyota Revo/Kijang replacement, the new Toyota Innova is indeed miles away from its predecessor. Frankly speaking, it is worlds apart from that ubiquitous vehicle that has served this country for about seven years.

First and foremost, the engines of the Innova scream "state-of-the-art". The new 2.0 liter engine (1TR-FE) with VVT-i technology demonstrates the Toyota expertise in gasoline engine development by promising better fuel economy and at the same exhilarating performance never experienced in this segment. The D4D engines (2KD-FTV) with turbocharger, on the other hand, are another revolution by itself by possessing virtues that are previously reserved to gasoline engines. Both engines provide that guilt-free driving experience by being friendlier to the environment.

The stylish sheet metal is once again leaps behind from its predecessor and is once again truly reflective of Toyota's change of heart, as it breaks away from conventional, unexciting lines. The new Toyota Innova possesses a sloping front fascia that is almost akin to its Previa sibling. On the side, wide opening doors provide easy ingress and egress, and the rear profile is once again the envy of would-be tailgaters thanks to the multi-reflector tail lamps arranged in a vertical layout. 15" alloy wheels for the G variant stops off this trend-setting exterior package.

Inside the Innova, the ivory-toned cockpit (for the G variant) with plush moquette fabric upholstery promises comfort to every passenger. Twenty one storage locations for almost everything are abounding in the cabin. Say goodbye to side-facing last row seats, for the Innova will seat eight in almost mini-van like comfort. New design gauges with adjustable Optitron lighting complement either day or night driving. The multi-information display on the center console provides vital information such as outside temperature, vehicle bearing, cruising range, average speed and fuel consumption. The seats could also be configured in almost every way just in case cargo gets in the way. The seats slide, fold, and tumble to reveal a generous cargo space. Flush-mounted overhead air-conditioning with second and third row vents ensures optimum cooling capacity. A CD/MP3 radio provides endless tunes on every trip on board the Toyota Innova.

Toyota defined what an affordable multi-purpose vehicle should be a decade back with the Tamaraw FX and the Revo. Now they redefine it once more and actually shatters it with the launch of the new Toyota Innova. Toyota also renews its commitment to serve the nation not only by providing sophisticated and reliable vehicles, but also fulfilling its tasks as a corporate citizen by spearheading economic growth via new investments and other related opportunities.

SRP for the D4D Toyota Innova PHP 1.030M and PHP 965,000 for the automatic and manual transmission G variant respectively, while the E variant with manual transmission is at PHP 865,000. The entry-level J variant with manual transmission is pegged at PHP 768,000.

The gasoline Innova, on the other hand, retails at PHP 970,000 and PHP 915,000 for the automatic and manual tranmission G variant respectively, while the base model J gasoline model is pegged at a very affordable PHP 718,000.
