Italy’s iconic hot hatchback is now in the Philippines
Together with the return of Alfa Romeo, Petromax Enterprises also introduces the Abarth brand to the Philippines for the first time ever. Together with its introduction into the country, the brand with the scorpion badge brings with it four different variants of their popular 595 range: the 595, 595 Turismo, 595 Competizione, and 695 Rivale.
The Abarth 595 and its numerous variants is the high-performance model of the timeless Fiat 500. Depending on the variant of the 595, its 1.4-liter T-jet engine produces different power levels from 145 PS up to 180 PS. It shares the same body as the standard Fiat 500, but takes on a unique styling, giving it a more aggressive design. That said, the design continues to be an evolution of the first Fiat 500 Abarth which was introduced in the 60’s.
Starting with the 595, it is the brand’s entry level model in the country which uses the 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine which produces 145 PS, available with either a manual or automatic transmission. It is fitted with 16-inch alloys and is available only as a coupe.
The 595 Turismo is a step up from the base 595. The same engine delivers 165 HP and is capable of doing 0 to 100km/h in just 7.3 seconds. Inside, it uses ‘expertly crafted’ Abarth leather upholstery to complement the vehicle’s exterior. Outside, it sports 17-inch wheels, plus there are additional carbon fiber bits to give it a sportier look.
Should the Turismo not be enough, there’s the 595 Competizione. It delivers 180 HP and uses the new Record Monza Attivo exhaust and a self-locking differential, which helps put the power down especially during cornering. There are also large 4-piston calipers paired with Koni shocks to further enhance the handling. Inside, it is fitted with unique seats by Sabelt and also features a Sport button to adjust various parameters of the car's performance.
The range topper model available in the 695 Rivale. It is a special edition model designed in partnership with Riva, a famous Italian yacht builder. It uses the same 180 HP engine but is paired with a more refined design and styling. It is available in two body versions – hatchback and convertible. It comes with a unique two-tone paint work reminiscent of the sea-fairing vessels. Inside, more nautical themed features have also been fitted.
Currently on display in the Alfa Romeo Abarth showroom are the 695 Rivale and the 595 Turismo. You may visit them at Bonaventure Plaza, Connecticut corner Ortigas Avenue in San Juan City.
