Akrapovic was founded by a motorbike enthusiast in the 90's named Igor Akrapovic and is based in Invanca Gorina, Slovenia. It started out as a company who provided exhaust systems for motorbikes that gradually led them on to develop an automotive department. This was followed by a string of milestones and success for the brand, such as making a foray into F1 with the BAR Honda team in the early 2000s, and various other racing series's in both automotive and motorbike disciplines.

Such was the history and story the Philippine automotive journalists were told during the intimate gathering hosted by Marko Magdic (Market Development Manager) and David Brecelj (Area Sales Manager, Automotive Segment) both representatives from Akrapovic. The company presented the different processes and materials used in the production of the exhaust systems. The different parts and materials used were on full display and were open to being held and inspected up close and personal.

Akrapovic's specialty though is the usage of Titanium, they are considered one of the highest consumers of the ultra-light and durable material. It takes them 1 year to develop 1 exhaust system for a particular model, Marko said they can develop up to only 8 systems per year due to the rigorous testings Akrapovic does to ensure the quality and durability.

This attention to detail has led them to work with and produce exhaust system for top brands and models such as the Lamborghini Urus, Toyota Supra, and various BMW models, and just as an added sense of pride in their work, Akrapovic does not work with anybody who will not allow the Akrapovic name to be stamped on to the final product. Marko had this to say “We don't want to just be merely suppliers, but creators proud of the work we've done.”

From painstaking and rigorous production protocols to the understanding and forward-thinking research efforts for better materials to use in their products, it's safe to say that Akrapovic takes their craft seriously. Such is also the reason why if you want an Akrapovic Exhaust System for your vehicle, you have to wait until one is developed specifically for it. A bit of time and patience are a small price to pay for quality work, right?
