No need to u-turn at Susana Heights to enter Skyway from Alabang

Over the weekend, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) announced that the southbound Skyway extension off-ramp is now open. With that, motorists heading south can now bypass the often-traffic-riddled Alabang viaduct and head directly towards Laguna, Batangas, and beyond. It will also offer easier access to the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX).

But that's not the only good news SMC has for Skyway users this month. After closing the northbound Alabang-Zapote on-ramp for the construction of the Skyway Extension, it is now open once again. Yes, motorists coming from Alabang, Las Pinas, and nearby areas no longer have to take a “u-turn” at Susana Heights exit to enter the elevated toll road via the Skyway Extension northbound on-ramp. Instead, they can directly access it by passing through the Alabang-Zapote Skyway northbound on-ramp.

Interestingly, SMC says the Alabang-Zapote northbound entry ramp will only be open temporarily. There's no word yet when the ramp will be closed to motorists again. For those unfamiliar, the ramp used to be accessible only for Alabang-bound motorists to give way for the construction of the Skyway Extension. But with both northbound and southbound directions of Skyway Extension now open, SMC decided to re-open the Alabang-Zapote northbound ramp. Subsequently, it will help decongest the traffic build-up along the northbound Skyway Extension on-ramp.

SMC did not say until when the Alabang-Zapote northbound Skyway entry ramp will be open; better take advantage of it now. Just remember to have an AutoSweep RFID installed on your vehicle before using the Skyway.
