Morgan to extend model lineup with electric-powered EV3
Morgan will indeed be revealing an all-electric three-wheeler at this year's Geneva Motor Show after teasing the EV3 ahead of its global reveal next month.
Based on the teaser image, the front fascia of the EV3 will have grill-integrated headlights and additional lighting on the front fenders. What is surprising however is the absence of an engine up front. This could mean that the EV3 will either have a rear-mounted or mid-mounted electric motor.
Other details about the Morgan EV3 remain to be a mystery however.
The upcoming three-wheeler is the production guise of the EV3 Concept that was first revealed during last year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The working prototype has a rear-mounted electric motor that puts out 102 PS. With a curb weight of 450kg, Morgan also stated it has an estimated range of 240 km.
Just last month, Morgan announced that they plan to extend their powertrain lineup with hybrid and electric powertrains by 2019. Morgan will be leading a GBP 6 million project that will allow them to develop new powertrain technologies in collaboration with other UK companies like Delta Motorsport and Potenza Technology.
The Morgan EV3 will be making its global debut next month and Morgan plans to introduce it to the market by the end of 2016.
