Honda revealed the first look at the face-lifted 2013 Honda Civic Sedan as a preview to its debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show happening on November 29.
As a form of 'refreshment', the 2013 model now sports an 'open-mouth' lower bumper with chrome accents matched with black honeycomb grille that extends up to the new headlamps. The hood also got redesigned along with the trunk lid. Aside from the refreshed fascia, the new tail lamps and wheels are perhaps the most prominent changes on the Civic.
"The 2013 Honda Civic exterior refinements infuse Civic with a more youthful, premium style. Coupling these with additional changes beneath will ensure that Civic maintains its top-ranked status," said Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of product planning for American Honda.
The 2013 Civic is also set to get a host of safety, feature, comfort, chassis, and interior styling enhancements but no specific details were released as of the moment as further details are yet to be revealed on its debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Meanwhile, Honda also announced its latest addition to its Earth Dreams Technology with the Sports Hybrid Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive system. It is a newly developed compact and lightweight single motor hybrid system designed for small vehicles to further improve fuel economy.
This new drive unit combines a newly developed inline 4-cylinder 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine with a 7-speed DCT system. The built-in high-output motor and lithium-ion battery is said to improve its efficiency by more than 30% compared to a conventional one-motor hybrid system.
These latest advancements in electric vehicle technologies further progress Honda towards making the Sport Hybrid, such as the forthcoming new NSX model, a reality.
