All-new 2017 Fiat Argo hatch officially launched

Fiat launches 2017 Argo hatchback in Brazil

Several weeks ago, Fiat released the first images of the all-new Argo hatchback which will sit alongside the revered 500. Adopting a sleeker and more modern appearance, the Argo adopts an athletic look compared to the retro-inspired 500.

Now, the company has officially launched the Argo in Brazil and is available in numerous variants and engine options.

Set to replace the aging Punto, the Argo veers away from rounded shapes as it gets a more aggressive design. Tapered headlights dominate the front end along with a prominent front bumper. Eye-catching taillights flank the rear quarters and depending on the variant chosen, a plethora of wheel designs can be specified for the Argo.

Stepping inside, all versions of the Argo will come with illuminated dials with built-in multi-info display, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, manual or automatic climate control (depending on the variant) and a multifunction steering wheel. Other available extras that can be equipped on the Argo include: cruise control, leather upholstered seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A total of three engines are available for the 2017 Argo. First up is the entry-level 1.0-liter three-cylinder Firefly engine which produces 78 PS. Next is the larger 1.3-liter four-cylinder Firefly which doles out 109 PS. At the top of the range is the 1.8-liter E.torQ motor which generates 139 PS.

Available transmissions for the 2017 Argo include a 5-speed manual or automated-manual and a 6-speed automatic.

Also available is the limited-edition Argo HGT Opening Edition Mopar. Only 1,000 examples will be made and all will come with Mopar accessories. Unique features like the 16-inch alloy wheels, door sill guards, rubber mats and 60-watt sound system will come as standard equipment on this particular Argo.

In addition, all examples will be painted Portofino Blue and will come with a blacked-out roof, rear spoiler and mirror caps.
