The Integra is back

Fans of the Integra rejoice.

After spy photos and renders of what a new Integra Type R could look like, it seems Acura just told us what we all wanted to hear – a new Integra is coming. Best of all, it’s arriving much earlier than we thought. The new Integra will debut in Spring 2022.

Acura gave us our first look at the new Integra through a post on Instagram. The short video clip shows us the sleek LED headlight and a portion of the grille. But what’s important is the embossed “INTEGRA” lettering on the bumper. The design pays homage to the third generation DC2, which had the same styling feature.

“The Integra is back. I’m thrilled to say Integra is returning to the Acura lineup with the same fun-to-drive spirit and DNA of the original, fulfilling our commitment to Precision Crafted Performance in every way – design, performance, and the overall driving experience,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president, and Acura Brand Officer.

Unfortunately, Acura did not reveal any other details about the upcoming Integra. The automaker only said that more details will be made available closer to its 2022 introduction. At the moment, we’re not even sure if the vehicle in the teaser is a concept or the production model already. There’s also the issue of whether it will be a coupe or sedan. While the Integra is more popularly known as a coupe, it was also available as a four-door sedan.

Since the previous-generation Integra models were based on the Honda Civic at the time, it could likely be the same for the upcoming fifth-generation Integra. If that is the case, expect to see similar powertrain options available as the ones offered on the new 11th-generation Civic.

We still have a lot of questions about the new Integra, but it is good news for those eagerly waiting for its revival.
