We've already seen Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. reveal the all-new Creta and Tucson online (and at dealerships). But if there is one more vehicle buyers are interested in, it's the all-new Staria. Essentially the successor to the much revered Grand Starex, the Staria moves away from the body-on-frame utilitarian design of yesteryear to a sleek unibody construction complete with an unmistakable look.
And now, the Staria has officially made its way to the Philippines. It's available in three distinct variants and comes with many in-car amenities and features.
Starting with its design, the Staria comes with a streamlined exterior that gives it a more aerodynamic silhouette. It is then complemented by a distinct front fascia complete with LED headlights and LED daytime running lights (halogens on lesser variants). It also gets vertical LED taillights at the back, ensuring nighttime (or daytime) visibility.
The Staria measures 5253mm long, 1970mm wide, and 1990mm tall. It has a generous 3273mm wheelbase, along with 186mm of ground clearance. When it comes to storing luggage, the Premium+ AWD benefits from a power tailgate while the GLS+ and Commuter only have a manual liftgate.
Moving to the interior, the Staria greets passengers with a cozy interior, particularly on the GLS+ and Premium+ AWD models. In the top-of-the-line variant, the Staria Premium+ AWD comes with 2+2+3 seating complete with Nappa leather upholstery. The GLS+ and Commuter models, meanwhile, are 11-seaters and come with leather and fabric seats, respectively.
Infotainment for the GLS+ and Premium+ AWD comes in the form of an 8-inch touchscreen media display. It has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB, AM/FM radio, and voice recognition. The Premium+ AWD variant comes with a Bose sound system while the GLS+ only comes with a 6-speaker system. The Commuter model only comes with a 2-DIN sound system with AM/FM radio, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Other available features in the all-new Staria include a wireless charging pad, USB charging ports across all seats, automatic climate control (manual aircon on lesser models), power-adjustable front seats, a digital instrument panel, dual power-sliding rear doors (Premium+ AWD only), a power sunroof, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Powering all variants of the Staria is a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine with CRDi. It makes 177 PS at 3800 rpm along with 430 Nm of torque between 1500 to 2500 rpm. The GLS+ and Premium+ AWD AWD models come with an 8-speed automatic transmission while the Commuter version is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
When it comes to safety features, all variants of the Staria come with the following; anti-lock brakes, hill-start assist, electronic stability control, and dual front airbags. On higher-grade models, the Staria has several intelligent safety systems that include lane-keeping assist, forward collision avoidance assist, tire pressure monitoring system, parking distance warning, 360-surround view monitor, blind-spot monitor, lane-following assist, and side/curtain airbags.
Available colors for the all-new Staria include Abyss Black Pearl, Creamy White, and Olivine Gray. Customers can also select from three interior colors; Black, Brown Two-Tone, and Beige Two-tone.
