Kia continues to expand its crossover portfolio as they recently announced the release of an all-new model. Apart from the Seltos which is set to make its debut soon, Kia will also be releasing the XCeed.

Set to make its public debut on June 26, the XCeed is Kia's take on the growing coupe crossover market that focuses on a sportier look and feel. Designed at the company's design center in Frankfurt, Germany, the XCeed features a swept-back, coupe-like shape which gives it a striking exterior unlike traditional SUVs.

The sloping roof design gives the XCeed a hatchback / wagon-like appearance, while the sleek headlights and taillights provide a distinct look for the crossover. Twin five-spoke alloy wheels, on the other hand, further add to the XCeed's already sporty demeanor. Pictures of its interior have yet to be revealed, although Kia did say that the crossover will offer comparable levels of interior and luggage space against other best-selling SUVs.

Emilio Herrera, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Motors Europe, said that since its taller and more dynamic-looking than the typical SUVs, the XCeed will deliver a sportier drive without compromising practicality.

“The sporty design and demeanour of the new Kia XCeed CUV makes it more innately desirable than many taller, larger SUVs. Yet it offers this without compromising on versatility, with its intelligent packaging achieving the cabin and storage space of an SUV in a sportier body and more compact footprint,” said Herrera.

Exact powertrain options have yet to be released. However, it could more than likely have the same engine lineup as the ProCeed which was revealed last year. That means the XCeed may come with a 1.0-liter turbo with 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque, a 1.4-liter turbo that produces 140 PS and 242 Nm of torque, or a 1.6-liter turbo that has 204 PS and 265 Nm of torque. A 1.6-liter turbo-diesel option could also be available which generates 136 PS with either 280 or 320 Nm of torque.

As crossovers and SUVs continue to lead market trends, fingers crossed Kia Philippines brings this stylish crossover coupe to the country in the near future.
