AMR gives the Aston Martin Rapide more power, aggressive aero


Aston Martin Rapide AMR debuts with 580 PS

Aston Martin first introduced the Rapide AMR last year as concept together with other AMR models. The high performance sedan featured a more aggressive aero pieces and also packed more power. Now, the covers have come off the production model Rapide AMR ahead of the Le Mans 24 this weekend. 

Under the hood, the Rapide AMR retains Aston Martin’s naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12. Compared to the standard Rapide S which produces 552 PS and 630 Nm of torque, it now produce 603 PS while torque remains at 630 Nm. This is due to AMR retuning the engine, fitting larger intake manifolds and tuned-length dual inlet runners. Thanks to the power increase, the performance sedan now goes from 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 330km/h. 


To handle the increase in power, AMR also tweaked the suspension. The Rapide AMR now sits 10mm lower thanks to three mode adaptive dampers. Upgraded six-piston and four-piston brakes at the front and rear, respectively, help bring the performance sedan to a stop. 

Styling-wise, the production model took most of the styling cues from the concept Rapide AMR. Loads of carbon fiber bits have been added to the body work such as the front splitter, spoiler and rear diffuser. Two circular LED lights have been added to the front bumper. At the rear sits a new quad exhaust setup, which Aston Martin says "ensures a raucous sound befitting of the AMR badge." Completing the exterior makeover are the new 21-inch wheels. 

Inside, there is carbon fiber center console that runs the length of the cabin. There are also new seats lined in Alcantara with the AMR lettering embroidered. Customers may also choose the color highlights.

Much like the DB11 AMR launched earlier, the Rapide AMR is also limited-run model. Aston Martin will only build 210 units of the high performance sedan each with a price tag of $240,000 with deliveries beginning in later this year.
