It appears that the Blue Oval brand is prepping a more powerful version of the mighty GT.
If you remember last year, Ford announced that they will be re-opening the order books for 250 more applicants that wish to get their very own GT. Retailing for a cool $450,000 (about Php 23.1 million), the prized halo car from Ford commands a steep price and is not meant for everyone.
Out of the 250 slots however, several of those could have a more powerful engine hiding underneath its rear hood. That's because Ford will be at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed with an ultra high-performance version of the GT.
Come July 4, 2019, Ford will be unveiling a more souped-up version of the GT at the annual motorsports event in West Sussex. However, they have yet to reveal any details regarding the said GT apart from a lone teaser photo.
Based on the image provided, the more powerful GT appears to have a huge wing at the back. In addition, the GT in question could have a more aggressive aero pack than standard. But since we have yet to fully see the car, we'll just have to wait and see what it will eventually look like. A bevy of lightweight components could also make their way on the GT so as to make it lighter and have better acceleration.
As for the the 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, we won't be surprised if Ford will be able to extract over 700 PS and and more than 800 Nm of torque from the engine. In stock form, the six-cylinder engine on the GT already produces a staggering 655 PS and 745 Nm of torque. Aside from a boosted engine, a retuned seven-speed dual-clutch transmission could also be available in the more powerful GT.
Does this mean this particular Ford GT will serve as the Blue Oval's hypercar-fighter? We'll find out next week.
