Honda surprised the motoring world late last year when they previewed the 2022 Honda Civic Prototype. While it's not yet the official production car, this particular prototype gave us a sneak peek of the 11th-generation model.
Fast forward to the present day, and it looks like photos of what appears to be the all-new Civic leaked. Looking at the images, the car in question heavily resembles the previously revealed prototype.
There are some minor differences between the prototype and what could be the production model, however. For starters, the look of the front bumper is toned down. It also has a different set of wheels, but that could mean it's a different variant. Kept on the production car are the slim headlights and a front grille that draws inspiration from the Accord.
Towards the rear, the sedan largely remains the same. The difference here is a different set of taillights. The distinct trunk design and the rear bumper appear to have been kept for the production model. Based on the badges, the leaked Civic seen here looks like it will be offered in the Chinese market. With that, what we have here might not be representative of the model that will come to the Philippines.
Powertrain options for the new Honda Civic are still a mystery. However, the current engine line-up may likely continue to see use in various markets. These are the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo, 1.8-liter naturally-aspirated engine, and the 1.5-liter turbo.
With the leaked pictures all over the internet, does this mean Honda is gearing up for its global reveal? Well, Honda did say they will reveal it during the second half of 2021. Not only that, Honda Cars Philippines' president Masahiko Nakamura confirmed it's coming here soon.
