The Hyundai Elantra has been around for two years now. While relatively young in its production cycle, the Korean automaker is giving their C-segment entry quite the update for its facelift. Hyundai's facelift for the Elantra is extensive enough to likely convince the passerby that it's a full model change.

Spied in South Korea, the model spotted appears to be destined for the USA since it has corner lights. Its front fascia is far from the current model, taking cues from the new sedan, as well as the Nexo hydrogen-powered crossover. For starters, the headlights are no longer the sleek, upswept units. In its place is a much larger, triangular pair with LED daytime running lights surrounding its border.

There are more triangular themes at the corner of the bumpers, namely with its new set of foglights and sharper edges. As for the grill, it's similar to the Nexo as it is bigger and wider than before. As a result of all these changes, the hood has been reshaped, as well as the front fenders.

As for the side, it looks largely unchanged save for the new set of wheels that will likely be part of the updated model range. While no changes are spotted there, the back gets a similar, dramatically changed treatment as the front.

The trunklid is totally new, employing a flush, almost blank-looking design. That means the license plate holder has been moved to the bumper. Tail lights are larger and longer than the current model's and the Hyundai badge takes center stage, now situated between the lights. As mentioned, the plate holder is now in the bumper, and the entire panel appears to be all new to match the changes to the rear fascia.

It is yet to be known if Hyundai updated the cabin and the engine range. However, rumors have suggested that the car will be fully revealed in a few months time in its home market of South Korea. Sold there as the Avante, it is possible that the rest of the world will be getting it by early 2019.
