Aston Martin DB11 now comes in open-top Volante version

DB11’s roof comes off just in time for cold breeze

With the rest of the world about to experience colder breezes thanks to changing seasons, Aston Martin felt it was about time to unveil the drop top version of their new flagship model. Combining its flowing lines with a soft top, the Volante version of the DB11 now gives clients the option to experience open-top cruising in true Aston Martin style.

Much like its original hardtop version, the DB11 Volante gets a Mercedes-AMG sourced 4.0L Bi-turbo V8 pushing 500PS with 675 Nm of torque. Paired with a standard 8-speed automatic as well as a limited-slip differential, the Volante does 0-100 km/h in about 4.1 seconds – only a tenth slower than the hardtop. The Volante’s powertrain yields to a top speed of 300 km/h.

“With the DB11 Volante we have maximized the advantages of the DB11’s all-new bonded structure to underpin our new Volante with a structure that’s 26 kg (57 lb) lighter and 5 per cent stiffer than its predecessor,” said Max Szwaj, Aston Martin’s Chief Technical Officer during the model’s launch.

Apart from the roof, the Volante features pretty much the same design as the standard DB11. Color choices are limited to Bordeaux Red, Black, Silver, or Grey Silver for the body. As for its interior, the seats now have matching trim on the center console to cover its back side. These trims are also left to client’s choice with various options available including Piano Black, Light Ash Open, Dyed Tamo Ask Open Pore, Satin Chopped Carbon, or Satin 2x2 Twill Carbon.

Apart from trim, the Volante gets full-grain leather upholstery as well as heated seats as standard. An eight-inch infotainment display takes care of all entertainment, with an option to upgrade to a 13-speaker Bang and Olufsen available for clients. For the first time in a Volante model, ISOFIX attachments to the rear seats are now available so a child seat can be attached.

Aston Martin now accepts orders for the DB11 Volante with prices starting at $216,495 and deliveries expected to start by spring 2018.
