Audi introduces its latest plug-in hybrid vehicle in the skin of the A3 Sportback e-tron. The premium compact vehicle from Audi is set to go on sale starting next year and aims to provide a sporty driving experience with impressive fuel efficiency.
The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron offers 205hp of power output from its 1.4 TFSI engine that's coupled to an electric motor and has a published average fuel consumption of 1.5 liters per 100km. In electric mode, it has an operating range of up to 50 kilometers. Performance is not compromised as Audi publishes a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 7.6 seconds and has a top speed of 222 km/h.
The electric motor is powered by a liquid-cooled 12-volt battery and has a voltage range of 280-390 volts. Audi supplies the A3 Sportback e-tron with a universal charging lead as standard. The customer can interchange the connecting plugs so that the lead can be used both with domestic power sockets and with industrial power sockets, for full charging performance.
As part of Audi's medium-term projects, Audi is currently developing its Audi Wireless Charging that enables future owners to charge the batteries via alternating magnetic field between the stationary charging pad on the ground and the mobile charging pad in the car.
