Audi has debuted the much-anticipated third-generation 2014 A3 Sedan to the Philippine market. The new model marks an important milestone for the A3 as it prepares to take on the premium compact sedan market going head-on with the Mercedes-Benz CLA class.
Traditionally available either as a 3-door hatchback or 5-door sportback, the Volkswagen Group MQB Platform-based typ 8V A3 introduced its first Sedan variant at the 2013 New York Auto Show and was awarded the 2014 World Car of the Year at the same show this year.

The design of the A3 Sedan is described as a cross between the classic three-box concept and the coupe philosophy featuring a 'tornado line' design element that forms a distinct light refracting edge that runs over the entire side. The Philippine release will come standard with Xenon headlamps and LED lighting package.
It features short overhangs for easy maneuverability and agile handling characteristics. It measures 4,456mm long, 1,796mm wide and 1,416 tall with a wheelbase of 2,636mm.
The driver-centric interior features a mix of modern and retro elements. It is equipped with a top-of-the-line infotainment system highlighted by the 7-inch LCD screen for the MMI (multimedia interface). Interior lighting is also package is standard for all variants.
Engine options are either a 2.0-liter TDI producing 150 PS and 320 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission or a 1.8-liter TFSI producing 180 PS and 250 Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The 2014 A3 Sedan will initially be available in three variants, a 2.0 TDI Ambition, midrange 2.0 TDI Attraction and the premium 1.8 TFSI. Audi Philippines will be releasing the high-performance S3 model later this year powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI with an output of 280 PS and 380Nm of torque, 6-speed S tronic, quattro all-wheel drive and a sports suspension package.
