Audi refreshes the seven year old sports car with some new details making the R8 edgier than before and is also introducing a new flagship model, the R8 V10 plus.

At a glance, the new LED headlights and taillights is probably the most noticeable thing that was redesigned on the R8 which is complemented by the a new front bumper containing an air inlet divided by three crossbars each and grille going all the way to the rear bumper which now sports larger diffuser with circular tailpipes.

The R8 V10 plus have its font splitter, side mirrors, side blades, rear diffuser and engine compartment linings made out of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, the same material that's used on the R8 GT.


One of the most important upgrade that the R8 got was the option for two power transmission systems. The manual 6-speed transmission,which is standard on the V8 and optional on the V10 and the new 7-speed S tronic standard on the V10 and optional on the V8. The 7-speed S tronic transmission spaces the gears closely for a more sporty mode and has the final drive position in a wider gear ratio.


Additionally, Audi offers the R8 in the two solid colors Ibis White and Brilliant Red, in four metallic shades and with five pearl effect/crystal effect coatings. For the R8 V10 plus a matte effect color is available as an exclusive feature. The side blades on the Coupé come in eight colors, while the soft top of the R8 Spyder comes in black, red or brown.

The overhauled Audi R8 is expected to roll off the line and on to European customers at the end of the year.
