Audi is celebrating last year's victory at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring by unveiling a limited one-off R8 that pays tribute to the R8 LMS GT3 racecar that took the checkered flag in 2015 Simply called the 'Selection 24h R8', the special edition sports car features a distinct bodykit, along with a heavily revamped handling package.
Based on the 2017 R8 Coupe V10 Plus, the Selection 24h features a Suzuka Gray finish and is accented by streaks of Mythos Black and Milano Red. According to Audi, the contrasting colors pay homage to the R8 LMS racecar. Meanwhile, the front spoiler, side mirror caps, engine cover, rear wing and diffuser are all made from gloss-finish carbon fiber.
Other key exterior features include the: 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, blacked-out sport exhaust system and matt-finished sideblades with R8 24h logos.
Inside, full-leather upholstery finished in gray blankets the limited edition R8. The headlining, on the other hand, is covered in Alcantara. Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) trim is also seen on the air vents and and trim inlay for the instrument panel. Exclusive to the Selection 24h R8 are puddle lamps that display the R8 logo.
Under the hood, it is driven by a 5.2-liter FSI V10 that cranks out 610 PS and 560 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via Audi's quattro AWD system and a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. With it, the limited-run sports car can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 330 km/h.
Better handling comes in the form of a technical package. It is comprised of dynamic steering, adaptive damper control and a magnetic ride system. Completing it all is Audi's laser light system.
Only 24 units of the special edition R8 will be made.
